Bar Code FAQs

What information is provided in the barcode?
All barcodes provide the product NDC number.

What type of bar code does Bedford Laboratories print on their vial labels?
The barcode on our vial labels is RSS-14 Stacked. According to GS-1, the governing group for barcodes, the barcode begins with digits which are considered “packaging levels”. Therefore, the vial labels will begin with the additional digits. RSS Stacked on the vial label will be read by an RSS Scanner

What is RSS?
Reduced Space Symbology, a family of linear symbols.

Are all Bedford products bar coded with the RSS-14 stacked?
YES with the exception of GlucaGen, Amifostione and Topotecan.

What type of bar code does Bedford Laboratories print on their cartons?
The barcode on the carton is a typically UPC code. There is a lead digit of 3 for pharmaceuticals and a check digit at the end.
